Before you arrive
Tips & Etiquette
Arrive early
Allow yourself 10–15 minutes to unroll your mat and settle before class.
Wear comfortable clothing
Something that gives you the freedom to breathe and move with ease.
Bring an open mind
Be curious about your own practice and receptive to what is offered, even a different variation to what you're used to.
Avoid perfume or scented lotion
Strong smells in a room of people breathing deeply can detract from the practice for others.
Leave your cellphone in your bag
Switch to silent to avoid disrupting class and allow your mind to focus on your practice.
Leave your shoes under the bench
It helps prepare you for yoga and keeps the studio clean.
Let the instructor know
About any injuries, physical challenges or pregnancy before class, so modifications can be suggested for your needs.
Be compassionate, don't judge
Meet yourself on your mat where you are in the moment. If you need to rest, move into Child's pose or lie down.
Focus on your breath
It will help your concentration and guide you through your practice.
And most of all
Have fun — it's your own yoga practice.
