About the class

Classical Hatha Yoga & Mindful Freedom (Siva's Sequence)

Rooted in tradition and infused with a philosophy of pure joy, Khawulezile's 90-minute class is an invitation to experience true freedom within your own body and mind. Like Grazyna, Khawulezile guides students through the beloved, traditional "Siva's Sequence". However, his approach brings a unique, deeply meditative depth shaped by his advanced full-time studies in India.

Khawulezile views yoga not as something to practise for the future, but as a direct gateway to happiness in the present moment — no matter the weather outside. In his class, the physical postures become a beautiful song, allowing you to spontaneously and effortlessly connect with your inner creativity.

This is a non-judgemental space where you are encouraged to use your common sense, accept all aspects of yourself as a peaceful observer, and celebrate the absolute gift of movement.

What to expect

With a generous 90-minute canvas, this class allows for a deep, unhurried immersion into Classical Hatha Yoga:

  • Present-moment grounding. We begin by dropping into the current space, letting go of the past and the future to anchor ourselves in the melody of the present.
  • Siva's traditional sequence. A structured, classical flow of standing and sitting poses, forward and backward bends, and twists that honours the lineage of Yoga Master Siva Sivakumar.
  • The art of non-judgement. Woven throughout the physical practice is the cultivation of mental freedom — learning to witness your thoughts and body without judgement.
  • Extended integration. A spacious, restorative conclusion featuring deep relaxation and meditation to let the energy (prana) settle beautifully.

Key benefits

  • Deep mental freedom. Teaches you to observe the mind, reduce stress, and find peace amidst life's changing seasons.
  • Traditional lineage. Experience the physical stability, strength, and vitality of Classical Hatha Yoga as it has been passed down through generations.
  • Joy and vitality. Reconnect with a sense of daily gratitude, spontaneous happiness, and the rhythm of your own breath.

About the teacher

Khawulezile began his foundational yoga journey in Pretoria, training under the guidance of Yoga Master Siva Sivakumar. Committed to deepening his practice and teaching, he travelled to India in January 2026, spending a month immersed in full-time, intensive traditional yoga studies. Returning to Shiva Yoga Studio with fresh inspiration, Khawulezile beautifully bridges our local studio legacy with the ancient roots of the Indian subcontinent.
